watabodies

watabodies involves an exploration of water bodies, specifically of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, deepening our relationship to themes of adaptability and continuity of Indigenous and Afro diasporic communities residing in regions susceptible to environmental challenges such as floods and hurricanes. We are committed to learning, understanding, and preserving the water histories and restoration practices by way of Indigenous and Afro Maroon communities established near coastlines and wetlands including Louisiana/Mississippi/Alabama and shorelines and interior water bodies within the island of Jamaica.
